National Town Hall Meeting on Children's Health Coverage
January 11, 2007
N.A.C.H. and a coalition of health care provider associations conducted a national town hall meeting on January 11, to draw attention to the millions of children who are still uninsured, and kick off advocacy efforts to support the reauthorization of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
The 40-minute program was broadcasted live via satellite and through the GE Healthcare Network from Washington, D.C. The national program was immediately followed by local events at several children’s hospitals nationwide. The event was moderated by Susan Dentzer, lead health correspondent for PBS’s The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer.
In conjunction with the national event, each local town hall meeting conducted a discussion among community members, local leaders and elected officials regarding the effects of SCHIP reauthorization on their state-based SCHIP and Medicaid programs.
