Learning objectives: After attending this session attendees will be able to:
-
Understand how quality improvement collaboratives can increase the return on investment for hospital quality spending
-
Understand purpose and scope of Improve First national spread campaign for pediatric quality improvement initiatives
-
Understand benefits to hospitals and physicians of participating in Improving First quality improvement initiatives
Hospitals can increase their return on investment in quality programs
by sharing the costs of quality improvement with other institutions
through collaboratives. We describe the types of collaboratives
that are showing strong, lasting results and the benefits to hospitals
in patient outcomes, costs, capacity building, physician buy-in, quality
measures, and more. The Alliance for Pediatric Quality (NACHRI,
CHCA, American Board of Pediatrics, and American Academy of Pediatrics)
is working to spread a portfolio of successful quality improvement
initiatives through their Improve First campaign. The Improve
First initiatives and projected long term impact on children, costs, and
quality will be reviewed.
