Every year, the Children's Hospital Association hosts advocacy days in Washington, D.C., each with a different goal and focused on different participants from the children's hospital community. Advocacy Day programs feature educational briefings, remarks from lawmakers and Washington insiders, opportunities to network with colleagues and a chance to carry forward a unified message to Congress to protect children's health. 2015 Speak Now for Kids Family Advocacy Day
June 14-16, 2015
JW Marriott, Washington, D.C.
Rebranded in 2013 to complement the Speak Now for Kids initiative, the Family Advocacy Day program provides children's hospitals patients and families the opportunity to come to Washington to advocate on behalf of current children's health issues. The event features a family-friendly program tailored to accommodate the unique needs of patients and families. While in Washington, families learn how to become effective citizen advocates and meet with lawmakers first-hand to share their story alongside government relations experts. They also work with their hospital and the Association to garner local and potentially national media attention before, during, and after the event and participate in year-round activities in support of the ongoing Speak Now for Kids awareness efforts. Families interested in participating should contact their children's hospital and connect with staff who manage government affairs.
