Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is a 423-bed institution dedicated to transforming the delivery of health care by improving outcomes. Cincinnati Children’s is the only pediatric organization in the United States to receive the prestigious Pursuing Perfection grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. The goal of Pursuing Perfection is to change the way health care is delivered by focusing on being family- and patient-centered, using evidence-based guidelines and being “transparent” in communicating outcomes.
Cincinnati Children's consistently ranks as one of the 10 best pediatric hospitals in the United States, according to U.S. News & World Report’s annual “America’s Best Hospitals” survey. Among pediatric hospitals with a comparable level of research and patient volume, Cincinnati Children’s ranks second in number of surgical procedures and outpatient visits, fourth in emergency visits and fifth in admissions.
U.S. News ranks the department of Pediatrics at Cincinnati Children’s and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center as the fourth best pediatric program at a medical school in the United States, behind only Harvard University, the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins University.
State-of-the-art medical facilities at Cincinnati Children's provide innovative care and advanced treatment for pediatric patients in specialty areas including the Heart Center, Pediatric Liver Care Center and Division of Hematology/Oncology. Family-centered care initiatives recognize, respect and support the family's critical role in caring for patients. Clinical procedures and treatments pioneered at Cincinnati Children's are now used throughout the world. Outpatient facilities and urgent care centers serve the community at eight neighborhood locations.
The Cincinnati Children's Research Foundation is one of the largest pediatric research programs in the nation, ranking third nationally among all pediatric centers in research grants from the National Institutes of Health. The impact of our medical research breakthroughs has improved pediatric health today and will for generations to come. Translational research results in innovations that have a direct impact on improving patient care.
Cincinnati Children's provides training and education to parents and our community, as well as medical residents, postdoctoral fellows, nurses, biomedical researchers and other health care professionals.
The Cincinnati Children’s vision is to be the leader in improving child health through patient care, research and education. Additional information about Cincinnati Children’s can be found at www.cincinnatichildrens.org.
